One Greater Manchester team fields an non-professional vets squad with nine ex- top-flight players in their present lineup.

Two Hundred Twenty-Two Premier League Goals, Three Hundred Twenty-Five Global Appearances

The team Veterans Over-35s are located in southern Manchester and play in the Cheshire Veterans League Top Division.

The squad list this season boasts nine ex- Premier League players, with a collective nearly 1,800 Premier League matches.

Well-Known Names and International Players

Stephen Ireland started turning out for the side during pre-season this season through good friend and current Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the ex- Irish midfielder then asked additional ex-pros, who all play in a weekly nine-a-side game, to join in.

"It's a little unusual but then, I love sprinting and just move inside - I'm not staying back that much," he said.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That running is what I'm seeking. It's enjoyable."

Along with the forward's six scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in 3 games for the side, while Boyd scored 5 on his first appearance and Lescott, a defender by position, notched a triple in one match as a striker.

Paul Barrow, thirty-eight, who features on the flank for the opposition, faced former Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa on Sunday - and had to tell his nine-year-old son who Emile Heskey was.
